For a medical center, retail can be a valuable tool to enhance the hospital’s patient and visitor experience. Development of the optimal merchandising mix is especially important for these types of projects to ensure maximum efficiency and balance.

In order for us to craft an effective retail master plan and strategy for our clients, we need to fully analyze the context of the current retail environment. Our initial assessment will focus on the current user groups that populate the medical center and their retail needs. Our focus then shifts to the current inventory of both the immediate hospital and surrounding neighborhood, in order to conduct an efficiency analysis of the campus and the way that space is utilized. This contextual analysis provides the foundation for our recommendations, developing informed retail programs that fulfill the daily needs of the campus populations at a scale supportable by demand.

KHL works on all aspects of the project, overseeing retail development, building financial/capital structures, collaborating with design & construction on layout/finish/equipment and providing leasing services. We manage the process on our client’s behalf from start to finish, working in conjunction with the hospital’s in-house design and facilities team to ensure proper coordination and compliance.
